Research Bazaar (ResBaz) is a worldwide festival promoting the digital literacy emerging at the centre of modern research. Every year, ResBaz events are held at university campuses across the globe. The aim of these events is to equip researchers from all career stages with digital skills and tools to make their research faster and smarter. A unique blend of academic and social life, ResBaz is an event unlike any academic conference.

Sydney ResBaz 2018, hosted at Macquarie University 3 – 5 July, is a joint effort of the University of New South Wales, University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney, Western Sydney University, University of New England and Macquarie University.

What’s in store for you at ResBaz?

On Days 1 and 2, workshops covering topics on coding in Python, R and SQL, Unix Shell, Git, data cleaning and analysis and a stream dedicated to HASS (Humanities, Arts and Social Science) tools and resources – all to be delivered by expert trainers.

On Day 3, a Festival consisting of lightning talks, hands-on activities around particular themes, and for HASS participants, a THATCamp (The Humanities and Technology Camp) Unconference.

In addition, there will be a range of fun social activities, networking opportunities, poster sessions, demonstrations, stalls and booths over the three days.

Best of all, the event is free of charge, so register now!

A post-ResBaz Hackathon is also being planned. This will give you a chance to team up with people you’ll meet at ResBaz, flex the skills you’ll learn in the two-day workshops and win some exciting prizes. We’ll share more details at ResBaz so stay tuned!
