Gender, Work & Organisation Conference 2018

The 2018 Gender, Work and Organisation 10th Biennial International Interdisciplinary Conference will be hosted in Sydney by Macquarie University from Wednesday June 13 – Saturday June 16, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency, Sydney. The conference, organised primarily as a series of streams, will provide an international forum for debate and analysis of contemporary debates affecting gender studies.

Launched in 1994, Gender, Work and Organization was the first journal to provide an arena dedicated to debate and analysis of gender relations, the organisation of gender and the gendering of organisations. The Gender, Work and Organization conference provides an international forum for debate and analysis of contemporary debates affecting gender studies. The 2016 conference at Keele University attracted in excess 400 international scholars from over 30 nations.

GWO2018 offers an amazing opportunity to network and share professional knowledge and research over 4 days in the heart of Sydney. With individual presentations under various streams and group networking sessions, the conference presents diverse geographical gender research and most current information from around the globe. MPID will be hosting Julie Wagner, world leading expert in urban affairs and placemaking, and the co-author of the highly acclaimed article ‘The Rise of Innovation Districts’ at the Macquarie University Incubator on Friday 15th June 2018, for a seminar on Innovation Districts: Best Practice.

Julie is a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution and President, Urban Insight. She has been pivotal in observing how new geographies of innovation are emerging in response to economic and demographic forces.

CAMPx2018 Grand Finale Sydney

This one-night event is the culmination of 100 days of blood, sweat and innovation fuelled by the bright sparks of the future. Friday 15 June is the finish line for 80 Australian and Chinese millennials who have been on a fast, furious cross-border intensive collaboration sprint like no other.

They’ve already been to China in April to see the world’s largest economy first hand. Then, in diverse teams of four, they’ve been tasked with developing commercial solutions to real-world problems posed by enterprise partners including Wesfarmers, David Jones, Alibaba Group, EY and platinum program partner, Macquarie University.

In June the Chinese cohort will arrive in Sydney and all 80 CAMPers will meet again to perfect their ideas then pitch their business solutions before a panel of judges, venture capitalists and industry experts. The Grand Finale sees the three finalists battle it out to win seed funding to take their concept to market as well as a return trip to China/Australia in 2019.

This is a high-stakes, high-speed pitching contest. Brilliant ideas, brilliant minds and smart investors make for a real life Shark Tank, all set in Vivid Sydney’s light display at The Concourse, Chatswood.
