iLearn Tools – Feedback Studio & Rubrics

Feedback Studio is a product within Turnitin that facilitates online marking and feedback. This workshop provides a hands-on opportunity to learn how to set up and use the features in Feedback Studio to provide feedback to students. Explore the features of Feedback Studio to provide students with assignment grades and feedback, including QuickMarks and Rubrics. Recognise methods for using Feedback Studio as a time efficient tool to provide students with rich, personalised feedback.

Staff Wellbeing Week presents a number of opportunities for you to focus on and learn more about ways to improve your health and wellbeing.

Friends of MQ Health Launch

We’re delighted to be launching a new community at Macquarie University Hospital called Friends of MQ Health.

Who are the Friends of MQ Health?

They’re people just like you, who have a special interest in learning about and supporting the latest developments that are revolutionising healthcare, curing disease and changing lives here at Macquarie. People who would like to give back by volunteering to help patients staying at Macquarie University Hospital be as comfortable as possible. People who would like to make new friends and connect with new people.

Exam Writing Workshop

7 September 2017

This workshop will cover all aspects of writing an exam, from overall design to moderation and how to write questions. Exams are a major part of assessment in Science and Engineering: we should put some effort into getting them correct and giving our students the best possible chance of demonstrating their learning. The workshop will be led by AD L&T James Downes, who has headed Physics exams for the HSC, with other experienced examiners from the faculty.

What it will cover:

  • The golden rules of good exams
  • Designing for success – well-structured exams that objectively test student ability
  • Writing questions that students know how to answer: the language of exams
  • Who are we writing exams for? Student diversity and reflecting our community

Bring along: 

  • Own exam papers + unit guide and learning outcomes
  • Questions
  • Laptop or tablet – some laptops will be made available
