Banksia and Gumnut Cottages
Banksia and Gumnut Cottages
Banksia Cottage and Gumnut Cottage are 80 place centres managed by Campus Life Children’s Services.
Each centre is open Monday to Friday 7:30am-6:30pm for 50 weeks per year, closing for two weeks in late December/early January.
Our philosophy and practices are underpinned by the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics and reflective of the Early Years Learning Framework. We actively participate in research projects undertaken by academics and external organisations.
Our highly qualified educators are encouraged to undertake centre based research in practice projects, to submit to early childhood publications, and they regularly present at early childhood conferences. We also have lower staff: child ratios than required under the Regulations.
Programs are child focused, play based and reflective of current research; each child's learning is facilitated, guided and extended by our experienced team of educators. The indoor and outdoor environments are considered equally important in provision of learning opportunities for children. Sustainability, inclusion and diversity are embedded in our practices and policies.
Child Safe Commitment Statement
Campus Life is committed to the safety, well-being and empowerment of all children and young people engaging in our programs and to protect them from foreseeable harm.
Campus Life treats all allegations and complaints about the safety and wellbeing of children seriously and is committed to ensuring that its staff, volunteers and contractors understand the legal obligations to report child abuse and neglect to government authorities. Every Campus Life employee has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays, individually and collectively, to ensure that the well-being and safety of all children and young people is at the forefront of all they do.
Each centre is an Approved Service, and the Child Care Benefit and Child Care Rebate may reduce fees for eligible families.
Priority is given to Macquarie University staff and students. Demand for care is high, with no guarantee that a place will become available when required, so it is highly recommended that families also consider joining the waiting list of other centres.
Daily fees are:
|Macquarie University Student||$127.00|
|Macquarie University Staff||$130.00|
Contact the centres directly to book into a tour or to find out more information.
