Established under the University’s education strategy, the Macquarie Academy plays a critical role in helping our students succeed by equipping educators with the tools, resources and community to deliver transformative educational experiences.
It contributes to improved student experience and learning outcomes by:
- building educational capability at scale
- connecting educators across disciplines
- fostering pedagogical innovation.

The Academy brings together academic and professional staff with expertise in teaching excellence to provide support, advice and sector-informed insight to advance outstanding educational practice.
We partner with faculties through a network of Macquarie Academy Fellows to ensure our work remains:

- relevant across disciplines
- responsive to the evolving needs of education.

Fostering collaboration and shared learning by connecting colleagues across disciplines to exchange ideas and strengthen educational practice at Macquarie. We do this through:
- communities of practice
- educator networks
- mentoring programs.
The Academy offers an internationally accredited Advance HE Fellowship Pathway, enabling educators to gain global recognition for their expertise and leadership in education. Macquarie is accredited to award Associate Fellowship, Fellowship and Senior Fellowship of Advance HE.
This pathway provides opportunities and support for educators to develop their practice in dimensions aligned with Advance HE’s Professional Standards Framework (PSF).
Innovation grants managed through the Macquarie Academy support the development of new pedagogical approaches to learning, assessment and the use of emerging technologies, including AI.
Providing year-round professional development through programs and bespoke workshops that support educators refine and enhance their practice, including:
- assessment and feedback practices
- course redesign and curriculum innovation
- inclusive and student-centred education
- integration of emerging technologies into teaching practice
- tailored program for course directors and educational leaders.
The Academy develops a range of guides, resources and toolkits to support high-quality teaching practice.
These provide practical advice, examples of effective approaches and guidance on curriculum priorities such as inclusive education and assessment and feedback.
