Learn about our bushcare group

SDG15

Bushcare@MQ launched in October 2008. With some tools in hand and a mission in mind, our dedicated volunteers transformed the barren riparian zone along Mars Creek into a lush and thriving area.

The Bushcare@MQ team is a group of Macquarie University staff, students and local community members. We meet at various sites around campus to help preserve the biodiversity of our beautiful campus. New members are always welcome!

Important session information

At the start of each session, we meet with bush regeneration experts who tell us the work plan and provide us with all the tools and equipment we need. Sessions involve weeding and planting trees, shrubs and groundcovers.

To ensure your session is safe and enjoyable, please:

  • Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We also recommend wearing clothes that cover most of your skin, to protect you from any potential scratches.
  • Remember sun protection. Wear a hat and sunglasses, and apply sunscreen.
  • Bring a bottle of water so you can keep hydrated throughout the session.

Campus sessions

Register your interest by filling in the online form. Session times and activities will be based on what best suits interested campus community members.
