Macquarie University graduate destination survey

Results of the Macquarie University Graduate Destination Survey for 2019 showed:

• 90% of graduates were active in the labour market (ie working full-time, working part-time/casual and/or seeking full-time, not working and seeking full-time or part-time employment).
• 94% of graduates were either in full-time or part-time employment close to one year after course completion.
• 72% of graduates were working as managers or professionals.

Results of the Macquarie University Graduate Destination Survey for 2018 showed:

• 80% of graduates were active in the labour market (ie working full-time, working part-time/casual and/or seeking full-time, not working and seeking full-time or part-time employment).
• 94% of graduates were either in full-time or part-time employment close to one year after graduation.
• 72% of graduates were working as managers or professionals.

Results of the Macquarie University Graduate Destination Survey for 2017 showed:

• 83% of graduates were active in the labour market (ie working full-time, working part-time/casual and/or seeking full-time, not working and seeking full-time or part-time employment.
• 93% of graduates were either in full-time or part-time employment close to one year after graduation.
• 73% of graduates were working as managers or professionals.

Results of the Macquarie University Graduate Destination Survey final report for 2016 showed:

• 87% of graduates were active in the labour market (ie working full-time, working part-time/casual and/or seeking full-time, not working and seeking full-time or part-time employment.
• 92% of graduates were either in full-time or part-time employment close to one year after graduation.
• 77% of graduates were working as managers or professionals.

Where are they now?

As part of the University's focus on connected learning, a significant survey has been undertaken to better understand graduate employment, one year after graduation.

The inaugural Macquarie University Graduate Destination Survey was undertaken with graduates who completed a course in 2014-2015 and who graduated in April 2015. The survey follows the national Graduate Destination Survey (GDS) which is undertaken four months after the completion of a course.

Results of the MQGDS showed:

• 81% of graduates active in the labour market were in full-time employment.
• 8% were involved in full-time study.
• 15% were in part-time or casual work, but not looking for any full-time work.
• 5% were not working and not seeking employment, nor involved in other activities (eg part-time study).
• 70% of the graduates who completed an undergraduate degree were working in the private sector, while the majority of graduates who completed postgraduate coursework or research degree were working in the public sector.
