New Electrical Undergraduate Stream
The following new stream will be offered in Engineering from 2018
Energy technology and systems are currently undergoing a rapid transition, i.e. that is, increasing amounts of renewable generation and storage, and to increasing use of information technology for monitoring and management. Electrical engineers will be critical in enabling the transition of society to more sustainable energy systems. This program addresses a need for electrical engineers with the combination of skills needed to design and operate future electrical energy systems within the context of existing electric power systems. Key units in this stream include: Fundamentals of Energy Systems, Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, and advanced units on Electrical Energy Networks and Systems. Employment opportunities would include existing electricity distribution and supply companies, industries providing small to medium scale electricity supply and management systems, and the emerging transport electrification industry.
