About us

Beginning in 2020 Macquarie Orbital will operate a satellite ground station from main campus via a Space Operations Centre hosted by the School of Engineering.

Currently the group is also mid-way through the design and development of Macquarie’s first satellite, MQube-1, which is intended to be the first of a continuing series of spacecraft designed, built and operated by Macquarie students, researchers and academics.

The Incubator will require minimal management and overheads, except for clear expectations and processes to be agreed by participants concerning access and support, levels of engagement, intellectual property, and tenure.

Oversight of operations will be the responsibility of the School’s Director of Industry Engagement.
