Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences Photo Competition!
We're excited to announce that from O'Week, Semester 1 2018 the Department will be running a monthly photo competition! Current Undergraduate, Postgraduate and HDR students who are studying a degree or a single unit run by the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences are encouraged to enter and share their experiences! The competition is also open to all Department staff. You can enter as many times as you like with photos from the lab, classroom, field, around campus and anything in-between.
Please make sure your photo is of high quality!
Note: you can enter via email if you aren't active on social media, but it's important to note that if you are selected as a finalist the voting will take place on Facebook. If you want to enter via email, please send the photo to our Outreach Coordinator.
From the start of semester 1, 2018 there will be monthly rounds of the photo competition (4 in total), with an end-of-semester final round. Selected staff members will judge and select the winners each month. The monthly winners will be placed into the final round which will be open for voting in July. The photo in the final round with the most likes (votes) on Facebook will win the photo competition, and will therefore win a prize.
Competition Round Deadlines:
Round 1: Entries due by 11:59pm March 31, 2018
Round 2: Entries due by 11:59pm April 29, 2018
Round 3: Entries due by 11:59pm May 31, 2018
Round 4: Entries due by 11:59pm June 29, 2018
Final Round: Voting for the Semester 1 finalists will be open for 10 days via Facebook. Voting will open at 10am on Monday the 9th of July, and will close at 10am Wednesday the 18th of July 2018.
A note on photo quality:
It's important that your photo entries are of high quality. Unfortunately if your photo is pixellated or of low quality we won't be able to consider the entry. We may contact you for a higher resolution photo if needed.
