Department of Health Professions
The Department of Health Professions is situated in the Macquarie University Hospital precinct, in new state-of-the-art purpose-built facilities designed to simulate authentic clinical environments including a rehabilitation gym and a clinic.
We offer a unique Doctor of Physiotherapy degree that is the only three-year extended masters-level, professional-entry physiotherapy program in NSW. It combines coursework with supervised clinical placements including more than 1,000 hours of clinical hours. Students learn from leading physiotherapy academics, researchers and expert clinicians. Students will also develop business management and leadership skills.
Since 2016, we have offered subjects contributing to a fast-tracked undergraduate Bachelor of Clinical Science degree, which can be completed in two years, providing targeted preparation for those wishing to sit the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT). We offer a Biomechanics of Human Movement unit for the Bachelor of Human Sciences and Bachelor of Clinical Science. Our Human Movement unit is the capstone for the Human Movement major in the Bachelor of Human Science.
The Department of Health Professions also leads internationally recognised research into common neurological, musculoskeletal and cardiorespiratory conditions and offers higher degree research programs for Masters and PhD degrees.
