The Department of Clinical Medicine’s research emphasis is in the areas of cancer medicine, neuroscience and vascular science. We focus on achieving an intersection between research, teaching and clinical care that will drive improved healthcare and health outcomes for our patients at Macquarie University Hospital and the wider community.
Students and researchers have access to fully equipped simulation, anatomy and PC2 labs supporting lab-based research from the Departments of Biomedical Sciences and Clinical Medicine. Also featuring high-performance computing facilities and state-of-the-art medical imaging capabilities, the Macquarie University’s clinics and the hospital are granted full access to industry-leading technology. These technological suites include two high-field 3 Tesla MRI scanners, a PET-CT scanner, an array of advanced imaging techniques and interventional oncology.
Student research opportunities
Available through the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, students can access opportunities across any academic level to further engage with research teams and extended study. These projects include openings across undergraduate degrees and master’s level and post-graduate experiences (designed to deliver students a pathway to a research-based career). Doctoral research as part of a PHD can also be undertaken through the faculty.
If you have questions about research processes within the faculty, please contact our Clinical Research Manager, Doctor Yordanka Krastev.
