Corporate and government

We develop tomorrow’s leaders through student leadership programs that involve our corporate partners. Our Career Accelerator Program with Ernst and Young, Macquarie Bank, Optus and other organisations connects our merit scholars with leading organisations through a tailored career development program. Cross-sector collaboration with professional partners, such as these organisations, are important to the faculty’s ambition to give each student the opportunity to acquire leadership skills.

We also work closely with a number of government bodies including:

  • Council of the City of Ryde
  • StudyNSW
  • UrbanGrowth NSW

These partnerships enable us to create greater opportunities to enhance the development and employability of students. For example, top students in the award-winning Accounting in the Profession PACE (Professional and Community Engagement) unit were offered work experience, mentoring and shadow placements with leading CFOs across Australia. In 2017, the PACE program received the Employability Award in the prestigious The Australian Financial Review Higher Education Awards.

Macquarie Park Innovation District (MPID)

We work with the Macquarie Park Innovation District (MPID) to stimulate, drive and nurture innovation through process improvement and product development.

MPID is Australia’s premier innovation location. Home to Macquarie University, Macquarie University Hospital, Macquarie Incubator and more than 180 large international and 200 small businesses, the vibrant technology park is set to revolutionise the way collaboration and innovation is catalysed. Unsurprisingly, the Macquarie Park–Ryde district is regarded as one of Sydney’s most innovative hotspots (Deloitte Access Economics report, 2017).

An industry-led initiative, MPID founding partners include Abbott, AMP Capital, City of Ryde, Johnson & Johnson, Konica Minolta, Macquarie University, NAB, NSW Government, and Optus. We are also proud to welcome to MPID our new partners, ORIX and Cochlear.

MPID is growing rapidly. An additional 40,000 employees will join the park in the next 10 years. Macquarie Centre – already the largest shopping precinct in New South Wales – is marked for further expansion; residential development will continue to increase; and the start-up ecosystem will intensify with the creation of new incubators, collision spaces and programs. However, it is the collaborative events, open to all park members, that really differentiates the innovation district.

Visit the MPID website.
