Seoul National University (SNU) is a national research university located in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Since its founding in 1946, Seoul National University has been widely considered to be the most prestigious university in the country.

It is located on three campuses: the main campus is in Gwanak and two additional campuses in Daehangno and Pyeongchang. The university comprises sixteen colleges, one graduate school, and nine professional schools. The student body consists of nearly 17,000 undergraduate and 11,000 graduate students. According to data compiled by KEDI, the university spends more on its students per capita than any other university in the country that enrols at least 10,000 students.

Seoul National University holds a memorandum of understanding with over 700 academic institutions in 40 countries, the World Bank, and a general academic exchange program with the University of Pennsylvania. The Graduate School of Business offers dual master's degrees with Duke University, ESSEC Business School, and Peking University, double-degrees with the MIT Sloan School of Management and Yale School of Management, and MBA-, MS-, and PhD-candidate exchange programs with universities in ten countries on four continents.

This program offers Macquarie University students the opportunity to study at South Korea’s most prestigious Seoul National University. All lectures are conducted in English. Seoul National University International Summer Institute (SNU ISI) also offers abundant extracurricular activities for experiencing and immersing in Korean culture and society.

Course Details: This Summer program is hosted by the Seoul National University International Summer School. Students have the opportunity to choose from varying undergraduate courses. This is a fee-paying program, Macquarie students could receive partner rate for tuition fee. There will be  USD1,440 per course (3 credit), approximately AUD1,969 (as at 09/01/2017). Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • Enrolled into an undergraduate degree at Macquarie
  • Students must have minimum GPA of 2.0 at time of assessment
  • Completed a minimum 18cp at time of assessment
  • Pay the $50 Application Fee
  • Satisfy other criteria specified in the Student Exchange Policy

Important notes:

Application Fee and Payment Options: For all exchange programs (semester and short term), there is a compulsory application fee. For more information and payment options please refer to the Cost and Funding Website. 

Logistics Fees: Airfare: subject to change depending on time of booking. Students should not book until they receive official acceptance from SNU ISI 

Insurance: It is a requirement of the exchange program that all students must purchase their own travel insurance to cover them for the duration of their entire journey overseas. More information will be given to students upon acceptance. 

Program Costs: This is a fee-paying program, all students must pay the program fee under the instruction of the host university. Also, There is an application fee of approximately AUD250 for the course, payable to SNU and separate from the $75 application fee due to Macquarie University. Students who wish to stay in the on-campus dormitory (see “Accommodation”) will need to pay directly to SNU ISI.
