Lucy Arthur | Head, Educational Design, Learning and Teaching Centre

In your job, what question are you most often asked?
“Can I write something for Teche?” The answer is pretty much always yes!

Where is your favourite place to spend a spare five minutes at Macquarie?
Sometimes I like to go and gaze at Frank the Kodiak Bear in the foyer of the Biology Department. It’s bittersweet.

What is your favourite thing about working at Macquarie?
Working with an amazing team of educational designers. I also enjoy how complicated Macquarie is as an organisation – it kind of reminds me of Game of Thrones (see next question).

What is your favourite film, book or TV show?
I’m obsessed with Game of Thrones (although not as much as my colleague Ollie – check this out).

What is the one piece of technology you can’t live without?
Despite loving my area of work, I often imagine I could quite happily live without all technology. Except maybe toasters.

What were you doing before starting these questions?
I probably shouldn’t say I was watching a video of a French Bulldog DJing? In that case, let’s say I was working diligently on an innovative project we’re undertaking with Dr Margie Borschke in Media Studies. We’re using WordPress to create a collaborative environment for her Data Journalism students.

Editor’s note: For the non-Game of Thrones fans out there, of course the editorial team does not think Lucy Arthur ‘knows nothing’. In fact, quite the opposite! Our choice of words are merely drawn from a very popular quote from Lucy’s obsession.
