Gallipoli from the ‘other side’

On the eve of Anzac Day, Harvey Broadbent, Director of the Gallipoli Centenary Research Project, held a successful seminar in association with the Bayram Cultural Association and the NSW Ministry of Community Relations.

220 people attended including the Turkish Vice-Consul to Sydney and the Honourable Victor Dominello, NSW Minister for Community Relations. The NSW Governor Professor Marie Bashir also attended and gave an appreciative vote of thanks.

Harvey presented a keynote on ‘The Gallipoli Campaign, A Turkish Perspective – from English translations of documents in Turkish Military Archives and other sources by the Gallipoli Centenary Research Project at Macquarie University’.

The presentation previewed the findings of the project and the upcoming books resulting, to be published by Melbourne University Press in early 2015 for the Gallipoli Centenary.
