Get your Opal card on campus

As the date for temporary closure of the Epping to Chatswood rail line draws near (30 September is the last day Macquarie University, Macquarie Park and North Ryde stations will be open for around seven months), it’s time to be prepared.

Transport for NSW (TfNSW) will provide Station Link buses to keep commuters moving but unlike many train stations, bus stops do not issue Opal cards. As public buses are cashless, you’ll need an Opal card (loaded with sufficient funds) to catch a bus.

There will be an Opal card kiosk located in the MUSE Building at 18 Wally’s Walk, on the ground floor from 9:00am to 5:00pm, on the following dates::

  • 10-14 September (Monday to Friday) Session recess from 14-28 September
  • 2-5 October (Tuesday to Friday) Session resumes 2 October, station is closed

The Opal kiosk is to help students and staff top-up their Opal cards, and find out more about how to set up Opal Auto top-up.

Elsewhere across Sydney, Adult Opal cards are available at selected outlets. Go online here for your nearest retailer.

For transport queries not answered online here, please email transport@mq.edu.au.
