Open spaces, parks, and creeks form the lungs of cities and create opportunities for biodiversity and safe sustainable transport.
As City of Ryde residents and workers, the Macquarie University community has an opportunity to contribute our many areas of relevant passion and expertise to the local environment by providing feedback on draft masterplans for three local open space corridors, also known as Green Links:
- Terrys Creek Green Link (marked in yellow in map below)
- County Green Link (marked in blue in map below)
- Shrimptons Creek Green Link (marked in pink in map below)
The amount of open space in the City of Ryde area will be increased to better meet community and environment needs under the overall masterplan. Opening and extending open space corridors will significantly improve cycle and walking between Macquarie Park and Eastwood; and Macquarie Park and West Ryde and Meadowbank, and onwards to Parramatta. The Terrys Creek walking track will be improved to provide a continuous biodiversity and bushwalking link between Eastwood and Lane Cove National Park. The Masterplans include a range of environmental and biodiversity improvements.
Feedback on the draft plans is welcome, as are ideas, suggestions, and comments on how the draft plans can be improved. Make you submission using the Online Survey.
The closing date for feedback is Sunday 13 February.
If you have any suggestions or would like to discuss this, please contact our Uni Cycling Ambassador and City of Ryde Cycling Advisory Committee member, Marios Elles
