The Department of Linguistics invites Australian-English speaking local children aged 3-12 years to be involved in creating a database of children’s speech for speech-controlled educational apps.
This collaborative project involves researchers from Macquarie University, The University of New South Wales, The University of Sydney, Western Sydney University and The University of Melbourne (see ABC News, December 2020)
Participants will make a one-off visit to Macquarie for a 60-90 minute recording, playing iPad games and activities while speaking real and made-up words and sentences, and telling stories about some pictures.
Each participant will receive a $50 Coles/Myer Voucher.
