From now until the end of July, Macquarie staff and students have free access to enrol in any of more than 3800 online courses via the Coursera Response Program for Macquarie University. Any courses started by 31 July can be completed until the program ends on 30 September.
Professor Leonie Tickle, Interim Executive Dean of Macquarie Business School and member of the global Coursera Council, highlights that: “Through our long-standing and highly successful collaboration with Coursera, staff now have a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of a wide range of learning opportunities.”
Vice President, People and Services, Nicole Gower, echoes that she is “…delighted with the collaborative efforts between Macquarie Business School, Human Resources and Learning and Teaching in providing staff and students access to quality online learning through the existing partnership between Macquarie and Coursera.”
Courses on Coursera were developed by world-leading universities, industry greats and, of course, Macquarie itself. They cover a broad range of topics, including business, technology, humanities, healthcare, data science and computer science.
Professor Dominique Parrish, Pro Vice-Chancellor Learning and Teaching, recommends exploring Macquarie’s offerings on the platform: “Our Global MBA and Excel Skills for Business model high-quality and flexible online teaching.”
She also has some personal recommendations to share: “Make sure to take a look at Cultural Competence – Aboriginal Sydney from the University of Sydney or The Science of Wellbeing from Yale.”
Professor Tickle is planning to follow the excellent courses she has already taken on data science with some of the tempting offerings available from the Berklee College of Music.
Associate Professor Yvonne Breyer, the Business School’s Head of Learning Futures, who has been involved in leading roles for all the major Coursera-Macquarie projects, says: “One of the most powerful outcomes from our partnership with Coursera is the feedback we receive from learners every day. The transformative and positive impact of Macquarie’s offerings on learners’ lives across the world is fantastic to see.
“This time-limited offer from Coursera to their partner communities is a great opportunity for our staff and students to take advantage of a huge catalogue of diverse online learning opportunities.”
Associate Professor Breyer also has a recommendation: “Take a look at Barbara Oakley’s Learning How to Learn, which has attracted over 2.5 million learners so far. It’s such a basic concept but the course is jam-packed with highly valuable insights for everyone who loves learning. Great to do with your kids, too!”
