Volunteering opportunity: annual MQ Bushcare activity

Open to staff and student volunteers, the annual Macquarie University Bushcare activity is taking place on Thursday 7 November from 2.00-3.30pm.

How do I get involved?
Send an email to volunteering@mq.edu.au to register yourself and any others, for example staff planning to bring a group of students. The group will meet at the Learning Circle on the day (see map).

What do I wear?
Close-toed shoes, comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty, sun protection such as a light weight, long sleeved shirt preferably with a collar plus a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.

What will I be doing?
Light gardening tasks including weeding and planting. The group will be led by a knowledgeable bush regeneration expert who will guide participants through the activity.

What to bring?
Bring a water bottle and a snack if needed. Tools and gloves will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own gloves.

What if the weather is bad?
If it is raining, the Bushcare activity will be postponed to the following week at the same time.

Does this activity qualify for volunteering leave?
Yes it does and staff can use up to two hours of community volunteering leave for this activity by heading to Macquarie’s HR online portal and selecting the line items ‘Personal Leave – Other’ and then ‘MQ Cont. Staff-Only Volunteering Max 2 Days/Yr’.
