Dr Sumit Raniga is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a subspecialist orthopaedic shoulder and elbow surgeon with three years of dedicated post-fellowship training in world-renowned centres of excellence.
With a background in molecular medicine, including gene therapy, as well as orthopaedic surgical sciences, including biomechanics – Dr Raniga has a proven track record in cutting edge research with numerous publications in international peer reviewed journals. He is involved in developing and implementing a world class centre of excellence in shoulder and elbow research, that not only produces science that influences surgical practice, but also trains the academic surgeons of tomorrow.

Provide the highest standard of evidence-based management and surgical treatment of complex shoulder and elbow problems with compassion and empathy. I am the co-founder and Director of the MQ Health Translational Shoulder Research Program – building Asia-Pacific’s first six-degree-of-freedom, eight muscle actuated cadaveric shoulder simulator to allow world class biomechanical studies to improve patient outcomes through basic surgical science research.

I could not recommend Prof Sumit Raniga more highly.
I had been having a great deal of pain, clicking, lack of full movement and general discomfort in my right elbow. X-rays & scans indicated I needed to see an elbow specialist. Through self research I obtained a referral to Prof Sumit Raniga. I could not have been more impressed.
I found Prof. Raniga to have an extremely friendly, calm and empathetic demeanour. He was exceptionally gentle in the physical examination of my elbow and very clear with his explanation of what was going on to cause me such symptoms & pain. After our detailed discussion re surgery, I booked in to have him perform an elbow arthroscopy.
The operation was performed at Macquarie University Hospital. All went extremely well and having to stay overnight, Prof. Raniga later visited to explain what he had actually seen going on inside my elbow and showed me photos taken through the arthroscopy camera. Again his incredibly genuine and caring manner was apparent.
The following morning I also received a visit where he explained my after care.
My recovery went extremely well and I have now been relieved of all pain and symptoms. It is even a challenge to find any of the tiny, neat incision scars!
I have no hesitation in recommending this amazing surgeon. Thank you Prof. Raniga!
As an end note…. I also saw Prof. Raniga with a fractured left elbow earlier this year! Though not having to receive surgery, he explained in depth the healing process involved and followed up with my progress. This elbow has also fully recovered.
