Seeking children 2-24 months for NAL hearing study

Your child is invited to take part in the trial of a newly developed software used to measure a child’s ability to hear sounds by recording brain responses in reaction to sounds.

Qualifications for the study

  • Has passed newborn hearing screening; has no hearing loss
  • Between the ages of 2months to 24 months.

What is involved?

We will be asking you and your child to attend one visit to the National Acoustic Laboratories located at the Australian Hearing Hub, Macquarie University.

During the appointment, we will:

  • assess the middle and inner ear function of your child
  • Measure your child’s brainwaves in response to sounds by placing small recording sensors on their head.

Your child needs to be awake and reasonably quiet during the recordings, but does not need to attend to the sounds. She/he can sit on your lap and play with toys or watch a silent video. The total appointment time is approximately two hours including breaks.

You will receive $40 in appreciation of your participation.
