Our community of alumni and staff is raising money for the Vice-Chancellor’s Fund through the #MQLightTheWay campaign. The unrestricted fund was established in 2015 and supports areas and projects that have limited funding or no allocated budget.
So far, $100,000 of student mobility scholarships has been allocated for students to travel between Macquarie and National University Singapore to study entrepreneurship and innovation.
Eric Daro, Director, Individual Giving says it’s a great role for Eric as he has personal experience of the impact that giving can have: “I am one of the first in my family to get a university education because of scholarships provided by alumni.”
Like many people who have benefited from a scholarship, Eric completed the cycle by becoming a donor himself.
“Giving to the Vice-Chancellor’s Fund is my way of thanking those who helped me succeed when I was at University,” he says.
Donations to the fund allow the University to continue to award scholarships, embark on new projects to improve the student experience, and undertake world-class research to tackle the world’s challenges.
As Eric says: “Giving not only helps light the way to a better future, it unites the Macquarie community and feels good too.”
