Staff now have on and off-campus access to The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald (SMH) and The Australian Financial Review (AFR) electronically through a subscription from the Macquarie University Library. Access is available online as well as digitally (digital replica of the physical paper) including 6 months’ archival access to The Age and the SMH, and 3 years’ archival access to the AFR.
On-campus access via desktop and mobile devices connected to the MQ Wi-fi network is accessible through the standard newspaper website. Access to the digital replica of the physical paper requires a separate URL. Off-campus access requires you to login to MQ OneID to access the proxy server.

Unfortunately the University’s subscription to the Fairfax newspapers was cancelled at the start of 2019 due to significant and unjustifiable price increases. This was in addition to users experiencing ongoing access issues with the Australian Financial Review which the provider was unable to resolve. You can find detailed information about our newspaper access options at http://libguides.mq.edu.au/newspapers
Me too as Sean below… was using this facility regularly but now both on and off campus there is occasionally one article available but usually nothing… have we lost the deal?
Do staff still have access to these subscriptions? It seems when I login in through the library at home that the news website loads up, but it doesn’t provide subscriber level access.
I’ve been using and greatly appreciating the access to Fairfax papers all year but now the SMH says I have reached my free limit… for some days now… is this an error or is there in fact a ceiling to our use? I hope it’s a glitch….
Same problem here. Any response?
Can a quicklinks on the staff homepage be made available for access to these subscriptions? It’s clunky to have to either bookmark this page or find the correct link through Multisearch
Thank you, this is a really great benefit.
