Ever wondered about the big questions in our world outside your own patch of expertise?
Registrations are now open for the Macquarie Minds Showcase on 13-14 December.
Macquarie Minds will bring together a compelling group of visionaries, researchers and experts across diverse fields including extremism, climate change, improving the emotional health of children, robots and even preventing falls in the elderly.
The event showcases the power of research that transcends traditional academic boundaries to shape a more positive future.
The first day features experts from across Macquarie’s five research priority areas: Healthy People, Resilient Societies, Prosperous Economies, Secure Planet and Innovative Technologies. They will share stories of their paths to discovery and the role played by serendipity in inspiring lightbulb moments.
By providing our world-leading academics with a platform to showcase their research and teaching expertise, Macquarie Minds will highlight the University’s key strategic priorities and commitment to providing a culture of transformative learning in a research-enriched environment.
In addition to encouraging collaboration within the University, the conference will engage with industry and other key partners and offer an inside glimpse into the diverse offerings of the University, such as the Australian Hearing Hub, PACE, the Library and the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
The second day is designed to shape and prepare early-career and higher-degree researchers to explore their potential and the contributions they have made to their respective fields so far.
A select group will host panel workshops, covering areas such as gaming and neuroscience, rethinking healthy ageing, and displacement and migration in fiction – emphasising the interdisciplinary research and collaboration across the University.
The Macquarie Minds Showcase aims to grow the research, teaching and learning culture at Macquarie.
