Are you a current university student or a recent graduate?

An unpaid internship placement is a great way to build on your resume and enhance your long-term career prospects. You will gain invaluable practical industry experience working at a reputable Australian company in an area related to your major. You choose your industry, location, start date, and duration (usually between 8 - 24 weeks).

Are you eligible?

Interns at work 

  • Currently studying or recently graduated
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills (minimum IELTS 6.0 or equivalent)
  • Visa: Working Holiday (417) or Work and Holiday (462)

Can you?

  • Work independently and part of a team
  • Work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Multi-task and perform under instruction
  • Adhere to meeting times

Need to improve your English language skills?

You can combine your internship with language study at Macquarie University English Language Centre (ELC) for 4 weeks or more before starting your placement. You will improve your English language skills and get the best possible preparation for your internship, with convenient access to Macquarie University's campus facilities and vibrant student life.

Volunteer Programs

Students can choose to participate in voluntary work experience to enhance their experience of Australian culture and improve their English language skills. Programs between 2-5 weeks are available with a community focus, for example, Australian environment and wildlife, political campaigns or market research.
