Short Term Language Exchange - Universidad de Alcala (January)
The University of Alcalá is a public university located in Alcalá de Henares, a city 35 km (22 miles) northeast of Madrid in Spain and also the third-largest city of the region. Originally founded in 1293 as a General Studio for the public, and later refounded in 1977 the University of Alcalá is especially renowned in the Spanish-speaking world for its annual presentation of the highly prestigious Cervantes Prize. The University currently enrolls 28,336 students, 17,252 of whom are studying undergraduate degrees which are taught by a teaching staff of 2,608 professors, lecturers and researchers belonging to 24 departments. The University is also proud of its modern and efficient administration, which is carried out by the Administration and Services, comprising approximately 800 people. The University of Alcalá is especially renowned in the Spanish-speaking world for its annual presentation of the highly prestigious Cervantes Prize.
Alcalingua’s short term program will see successful student applicants receive 60 hours of intensive Spanish language lessons. In addition there will be social and cultural activities offered.

Accommodation: In 2017 students stayed with host families (inc. half-/full board options) within 15 minutes walking distance from Alcalingua. Accommodation arrangements for the 2018 program are currently still under negotiations. Students may elect to source their own accommodation for the duration of their time in Alcalá de Henares.

To be eligible for this program, you must meet the following criteria:
- Enrolled into an undergraduate degree at Macquarie University with demonstrable relevance to this program
- Have completed Spanish Intermediate I and be enrolled in Spanish Intermediate II
- You must have minimum GPA 2.0 of 4.0 or 4.0 of 7.0 at time of assessment
- Completed a minimum 12 credit points at time of assessment
- Satisfy other criteria specified in the Student Exchange Policy.
