Korea University (KU) is a private research university in Seoul, South Korea. Established in 1905, it is one of the nation's oldest and most prominent institutions of higher education. It is considered one of SKY universities, known for being one of the best universities in the country. The student body consists of over 20,000 undergraduate students and over 10,000 graduate students. The university’s academic breadth is broad with its 81 departments in 19 colleges and divisions, and 18 graduate schools. It has over 1,500 full-time faculty members with over 95% of them holding Ph.D. or equivalent qualification in their field. The Korea University Alumni Association consists of more than 280,000 university graduates.
According to the 2017 World University Rankings conducted by Quacquarelli Symonds (hereafter QS), a British university evaluation institution, Korea University ranked 98th in the world, its highest ranking ever. For the first since KU began being evaluated by the QS World University Rankings in 2004, the school was able to break into the Top 100, making it the first private university in Korea to do so. This year’s QS World University Rankings assessed more than 4,300 institutions worldwide in four different areas (research, education, alumni, and internationalization) based on six key performance indicators. Among the indicators, the Academic Reputation from Global Survey’ section made up 40% of the overall assessment. A total of 74,651 world academics participated in the assessment survey.

Course Details: This Short Term Exchange Program in Korea University (KU) is called International Winter Campus (IWC). Please refer to this website for more details. Due to exchange policy, Macquarie Abroad only provide opportunities for credit-bearing programs. Therefore, our students are only allowed to attend the Session 1 (Academic Track) for this short term program.

To be eligible for this program, you must:
- Current enrolled students witht a minimum GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0 scale,
- Undergraduates must have completed a minimum of 2 semesters (postgraduates: 1 semester) at home institution before arrival,
- Fluency in either English and Korean language.

Application Fee and Payment Options: For all exchange programs (semester and short term), there is a compulsory application fee. For more information and payment options please refer to the Cost and Funding Website.
Logistics Fees: No fee Insurance: It is a requirement of the exchange program that all students must purchase their own travel insurance to cover them for the duration of their entire journey overseas. More information will be given to students upon acceptance.
Program Costs: This is a fee-paying program, all students must pay the program fee under the instruction of the host university. Additionally, you must also always be prepared for unexpected expenses, and should consider how you will be dealing with the expenses of your exchange before you leave your home country. Prior to departure, you will need to save sufficient funds to cover all of your expenses for the duration of your exchange. Some costs to consider include: airfares, students visa (if required), travel health insurance, accommodation, food, additional travel, entertainment, textbooks, incidental expense. If you wish to work while you are away, it is important to note that work rights for international students vary from country to country. For further information about your visa restrictions please contact the consulate or embassy of your host country.
