Two summer short term opportunities are on offer.

Program 1: Summer Camp on Chinese Economy & Society (2 weeks from July 15, 2019)

The Summer Camp on Chinese Economy & Society is a 2-week program designed for the students who wish to acquire a comprehensive knowledge of China in the fields of economy, business and society.

It is run by Fudan's School of Economics and includes 25 lectures, 3 company visits, 2 field trips, plenty of exciting culture activities!

Program 2: International Summer Session (4 weeks from July 4, 2019)

The Fudan University international summer session offers a range of topics in History, Culture, Society, Politics, Business, Economy and Law. Macquarie students are required to take 2 courses to be equivalent to 1 MQ unit.

Course Information

The Summer Camp on Chinese Economy and Society is equivalent to a 200 level ECON elective.

Students interested in the International Summer Session are required to take 2 courses to be equivalent to 1 MQ unit. Recommended course combinations are:

  1. China's Modern Economy + Topics in Development Economics
  2. Introduction to Investment Decisions + e-Business in China
  3. China’s Media and Politics in the Context of Globalisation  + IPR in China
  4. International Trade + Industrial Organisation
  5. International Trade + International Finance
  6. Fundamentals of Marketing + Culture Resources of Cities in China

Unit approvals and mapping results will be confirmed in end January 2019.

Fudan has reserved twin-shard rooms at Shanghai Fudan Yanyuan Hotel for Summer Camp participants. Students can also book their own accommodation.

International Summer Session participants will either stay at the International Students Dormitory (for foreign passport holders) or the Harbour building of the Fudan community (for students from mainland China only).

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher (varies each program),
  • Completion of at least 12cp at the time of application. 18cp to go abroad, Enough credit points remaining to complete the program,
  • Comply with the eligibility criteria outlined in the Student Exchange Policy.
  • Current students enrolled in universities above 18 with adequate English skills

Applicants must complete an online Application form. You'll need to include:

Your personal details, at least one University preferences. It should take around 2 - 3 minutes to complete an application.

Important notes:

Application Fee and Payment Options: For all exchange programs (semester and short term), there is a compulsory application fee. For more information and payment options please refer to the Cost and Funding Website. 

Insurance: It is a requirement of the exchange program that all students must purchase their own travel insurance to cover them for the duration of their entire journey overseas. More information will be given to students upon acceptance.

Program Costs: This is a fee-paying program, please refer to below for relevant fees:

  • Application fee: 400RMB (about US$60)
  • Tuition fee: 13,600RMB (about US$2,000)
    * The fees will be charged in RMB.
    * Merit-based scholarships are available.
