This program offers Macquarie University Chinese Studies students the chance to undertake an intensive period of study at the renowned Beijing Language and Culture University in China. Completion of this residential short unit will allow students to gain credit towards their Chinese Studies major while experiencing life in a truly global city.

Course Information

- Regular Course: Students registered to Regular course at BCLU receive 20 hours per week of Chinese Language lessons. Please check classes and timetable here.
- Intensive Course: Students registered to Regular course at BCLU receive 30 hours per week of Chinese Language lessons. Please check classes and timetable here.
Students will take the placement test at the beginning of the program and be arranged into the proper class.

Accommodation

Please check BLCU Accommodation website here. Students will be housed in international student housing provided by BLCU. Double room is up to 80RMB/day, and single room is up to 150 RMB/day. Accommodation will be booked around the program dates. More information will be provided about accommodation to successful candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • Not be a Chinese national
  • Demonstrate an academic relevance of the program to the enrolled undergraduate degree
  • Enrolled into an undergraduate degree at Macquarie
  • Be on track to successfully complete Chinese Studies 2 during S2 or have successfully completed Chinese Studies 2 previously (minimum)
  • Students must have minimum WAM of 60 at time of assessment
  • Completed a minimum 40 cp at time of assessment
  • Satisfy other criteria specified in the Student Exchange Policy

How to apply

Application Fee and Payment Options: For all exchange programs (semester and short term), there is a compulsory application fee. For more information and payment options please refer to the Cost and Funding Website.
Logistic Fee: Return airfare and any additional leisure travel undertaken.
Insurance: It is a requirement of the exchange program that all students must purchase their own travel insurance to cover them for the duration of their entire journey overseas. More information will be given to students upon acceptance.
Program Costs: Standard cost of enrolment at Macquarie into the relevant CHN residential shell unit.
