Assistance and opportunities beyond the classroom

At Macquarie University College, we want to help you connect with your peers, and get advice and study help when you need it.

Beginning with orientation, we provide extensive support for all students studying English that aims to enrich your academic and social life at Macquarie.

Orientation

We offer a fun orientation to help you settle in to life at Macquarie University College. Our Orientation Day is free and compulsory for all students. On the day, you will:

• meet other new students and key staff members
• be given important information about your studies and adjusting to life in Australia
• participate in a campus tour
• share some food with your new classmates.

Learning Hub

Our dedicated Learning Hub is generally open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and is very popular with our students.

We offer many workshops, which are free to attend. They will help build your skills in speaking, writing, academic skills, grammar or pronunciation. Or you can check in with our Learning Hub support staff for other advice.

You can also choose to study here before or after class to use our online resources and books, do your homework or research a class project.

Student advisors

We care about our students and there is always someone to help you. You can speak  with one of our dedicated Student advisors about your studies, your goals, our policies, or about life in Australia. Our advisors are qualified and experienced in student advising as well as in classroom teaching.

Activities program

We encourage you to take part in a range of free or low-cost social activities that we organise especially for English language students. By taking part in our social activities program, you can practise your English, make friends, learn new skills and enjoy your time in Australia. The more you practise English, the more your communication skills within Australian society will improve.

Policies

To make sure our students have the best possible care, there are policies in place for all English language students and staff to follow.
