Our learning and teaching philosophy

Our teaching is underpinned by a comprehensive pedagogical framework, developed to ensure that our students experience quality learning and teaching based on current theory and best practice.

Our teaching staff are leaders in the field and are adept at motivating students. They are highly engaged in their ongoing professional development and are deeply committed to:

  • participating in the ELC’s peer teaching observation program
  • reading and discussing scholarly work to follow best practice and embrace innovative teaching ideas
  • conducting research with the Macquarie University Linguistics Department
  • undertaking Action Research
  • publishing books and journal articles
  • presenting at national and international conferences: over 50 recent presentations and webinars for fellow teachers

All our teachers have postgraduate qualifications, some have PhDs, and several have won the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence for their own academic studies. Many are also experienced IELTS examiners and language assessment specialists.
