Professional experience
Promote your university work on a global program and gain important industry skills and experience, well before you graduate.
Macquarie University's unique PACE program provides opportunities for undergraduate students to gain practical experience by working with industry partners on mutually beneficial projects.
Previous web design and development students have worked with industry partners to develop a mobile device app for both Android and iOS devices that provides the company's customers mobile access to their exclusive online content, messaging service and chat rooms that all form a part of their subscription to the web-based content service delivery.
During this activity students had the opportunity to design and write code for an app in both the Android and iOS domains that included the functionality to allow users to join, pay, search content, view content, message one another and recommend to friends via social media.
No matter what you decide to study at Macquarie, PACE has an activity for you. Learn more about the opportunities available through PACE.
Our expertise
The Department of Computing has introduced an initiative designed to improve the experience of Computing students at Macquarie and bridge the gap between academics and students.
This scheme aims at connecting new Computing students with a Computing academic by giving them the opportunity to meet at the start of their Degree. If you decide to take up this opportunity, your academic mentor will be your single point of contact to answer questions related to careers in IT and academic advice. Your academic mentor will provide guidance for you to succeed and achieve your goals.
Academic mentors arrange a meeting at the beginning of the semester with a small group of students that has been allocated to them. You have been or will be contacted by email to find a suitable date to meet. Following this first encounter, individual sessions can be arranged later on for more personalised advice.
Please email Professor Michael Sheng or A/Prof Steve Cassidy in case you have any enquiries on this scheme or if you are experiencing difficulties with your mentor.
