Frequently asked questions

Am I eligible to apply for this Direct Offer?

If you are a domestic student completing the HSC in 2017 in NSW and have included a Macquarie course as a preference on UAC by 11pm, 11 December, you are eligible to be considered.

What courses are included for application in this direct offer round?

All undergraduate courses except the following:

  • Bachelor of Business Leadership and Commerce
  • Bachelor of Actuarial Studies with the Bachelor of Professional Practice

These two courses are excluded as they have additional entry criteria that need to be considered. You can explore our courses by visiting our Courses page.

You are also able to apply for the following four Diploma programs offered through our Pathways College:

  • Diploma of Accounting, Commerce and Business Administration
  • Diploma of Engineering
  • Diploma of Information Technology
  • Diploma of Media and Communication

You can explore our courses by visiting our Courses page.

How will I know if I've received an offer?

If you are eligible, you will receive a direct offer from Macquarie University, not from UAC. This offer will be sent to the email address that you listed on your UAC application, so you’ll need to ensure your contact details are up-to-date at all times. If you’ve listed your mobile phone number on your application then you’ll also receive an SMS from Macquarie.

Why am I receiving an offer now?

We see HSC subject results as a good indicator of your ability to succeed at university, therefore no reason to make you wait until you receive your ATAR.

This offer to study at Macquarie University is based on our existing entry criteria, but is being made outside standard UAC rounds. Any offers you receive in this round are based on you meeting our Academic Entry Program (AEP) criteria, which considers your performance in individual subjects that relate to your future degree. We review results for the NSW HSC Board Developed Courses (Category A subjects only) that correspond to select Macquarie degrees and make an offer dependent on performance in these subjects.

If this is your dream degree, you can accept your offer and enrol, then relax over the holidays.

Can I still get offers in other UAC rounds?

This is an additional offer round, so you may still be eligible to receive offers through UAC in other rounds. If you want to adjust your preferences for those rounds, follow the standard process to ensure you receive the offers you want. But if the direct offer you receive from Macquarie on 14 December is your dream degree, you can accept your offer and enrol now.

I've completed an International Baccalaureate, and had Macquarie listed in my preferences by Monday 11 December. When will I receive notification if I am eligible for an offer?

This direct offer initiative is limited to students who are completing the HSC in NSW and are eligible to receive an ATAR on Friday 15 December. If you’ve completed the IB, your eligibility will be assessed based on your selection rank, including any additional points you may be eligible to receive when adjustment factors are applied.

Due to the IB results release date, if you are eligible for an offer from Macquarie you will receive notification from the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) on Friday 12 January 2018.

I've completed Year 12 in ACT (or other states) or Year 12 overseas, and had Macquarie listed in my preferences by Monday 11 December. When will I receive notification if I am eligible for an offer?
