MUIC Undergraduate Diploma Programs

If you are a Commonwealth supported student you will be charged the student contribution amount for your unit enrolments according to the subject area of the unit and the year that you are enrolling in.

At Macquarie, the standard full time load for a MUIC Undergraduate Diploma Program is 24 credit points. This is equal to 1 EFTSL (Effective Full-time Student Load) and is used to calculate student contribution for a unit.

How much does a unit of study cost?

Step 1

Check the Course Handbook and take a note of:

  • The Unit Code
  • The Credit Point value of the unit
Step 2

Look up the band for the unit you are interested in the Student Contribution Band and Amount then look up the corresponding annual student contribution amount for that unit.

Step 3

The cost of a unit based upon the most common credit point values are shown below.

You can also use your calculator to work it out as follows:

Unit Cost = (Credit points ÷ 24) × Annual Contribution Amount

From 2017, there is no discount if you pay all or part of your student contribution amount upfront to the University before the relevant census date.

Example

The example below is rounded to the nearest dollar.

You want to enrol in WACS100 in 2018. The Student Contribution Band for this 3 credit point unit is Band 1. Your unit cost for 2018 is calculated as follows:

Undergraduate student contribution bands

If you are a Commonwealth supported student you will be charged the student contribution amount for your unit enrolments according to the subject area of the unit. This is determined by the Unit Band and is dependent upon the year that you are enrolling into.

  • The subject area of the unit determines which Band is allocated to the unit - Band 1, Band 2 or Band 3.
  • Exchange Units are in the same band as their Macquarie counterpart.

The Credit Point Value, Student Contribution Band of your unit and the Annual Load of your course determine the amount you will be charged.

Student Contribution Bands for Undergraduate Units

The student contribution bands for undergraduate 100 - 400 level units and LAW 400 - 599 level units offered at Macquarie University are listed in the table below.
