ECR development
Portfolio lead/s: Joel Fuller and ECR sub-committee representative Jodie Wills
Strategic objective: To foster the next generation of research leaders by creating an environment where Early Career Researchers are supported, heard and empowered through purposeful development pathways, opportunities for growth and sustained representation within the Centre’s strategic direction.
Possible activities (within scope):
- develop and deliver mentoring programs
- organise ECR networking events and training sessions
- conduct needs assessments/surveys
- represent ECR priorities within the Centre
- support development of ECR-focused initiatives and resources.

Partnerships and industry engagement
Portfolio lead/s: Tim Doyle and new executive member
Strategic objective: To build and manage two-way engagement with industry and external partners, ensuring PERC is visible and connected while encouraging increased external collaboration with Centre members.
Possible activities (within scope):
- identify, evaluate, and forecast industry engagement opportunities
- manage petty cash for engagement activities
- liaise with partnerships office and leverage their knowledge/resources
- coordinate consultancy opportunities
- identify aligned trade shows and conferences
- represent PERC at industry events and support member attendance.

Communications and media
Portfolio lead/s: Karen Pearlman and sub-committee representative
Strategic objective: To strengthen the Centre’s identity, visibility and influence by delivering coherent, purposeful communication that reaches the right audiences, amplifies member achievements, and positions the Centre as a leader in performance and expertise research.
Possible activities (within scope):
- produce newsletters/gazettes
- create short videos and visual stories
- develop a social media strategy and content calendar
- provide guidance to members on crafting impact narratives
- gather information and translate into news stories and external communications
- coordinate website and media updates.

Grant programs
Portfolio lead/s: Mark Dras and Anina Rich
Strategic objective: To strengthen the Centre’s research capacity and member development by strategically designing, coordinating and promoting funding pathways that enable members to pursue new ideas, expand collaborations, enhance their skills and increase their competitiveness for external funding opportunities.
Possible activities (within scope):
- administer travel and seeding grant schemes
- refresh guidelines and eligibility requirements
- coordinate working groups for review and selection
- maintain and communicate a grants calendar
- promote fellowship opportunities
- run workshops and training sessions for fellowship applicants
- conduct mock interviews to prepare applicants.

Member engagement
Portfolio lead/s: Kim Curby and new member representative
Strategic objective: To cultivate a vibrant, collaborative research community where members feel valued, connected and supported, ensuring meaningful engagement, a strong sense of belonging and pathways for ongoing contribution to the Centre’s shared vision.
Possible activities (within scope):
- organise annual conference and colloquiums
- run networking and community-building events
- support onboarding of new members
- develop initiatives that enhance member experience and collaboration
- facilitate forums for member feedback and participation.
