Lecture: Integration of Humanitarian Migrants into the Host Country Labour Market

In co-operation with Macquarie University as part of the Centre for Workforce Futures’ Illuminate Public Lecture Series, Settlement Services International will be hosting a lecture by Dr. Matloob Piracha of the University of Kent, UK on the Integration of Humanitarian Migrants into the Host Country Labour Market.

In this lecture, Dr. Piracha will be sharing the results from his research where he identifies different factors that influence the labour market integration of refugees in Australia using recently collected survey data.

Dr. Piracha will be discussing a number of employment outcomes including access to stable employment, income level, quality of employment and education-occupation mismatch in recently arrived refugees, as well as looking at the role that social capital and previous migration experience has on these outcomes.
