Centre for Workforce Futures engages with Canon’s Future of Work investigation

In 2018, Canon began focusing on the future of education and the future of work by commissioning Dr Sunil Badami to investigate, consult and report on both.

Dr Badami investigated The Future of Work during the Disruption Revolution in late 2018 and interviewed Australian business leaders, innovation strategists and start-up entrepreneurs, recruitment and training consultants, academics and social commentators for The Future of Work report.

Professor Lucy Taksa was invited to participate in the investigation following the publication of her interview with Fran Molloy in the LighthouseFuture of work is about humans, not robots’.

Dr Badami’s Report was published as Canon White Paper The Future of Work on 13 March 2019.

The Future of Work report sets out to discover what the future of work might be, and the best ways to address the challenges of work today in preparation for the opportunities of tomorrow.

It asks: ‘What are the biggest challenges facing businesses and workers today? What role can technology and education play in the future of work? And how can we meet the challenges of an increasingly uncertain future?’.

The Report can be found at: https://www.canon.com.au/businessinsights/future-of-work.

On 23 May 2019, Professor Taksa was an invited panel member at a Canon Future of Work Discussion Panel with Ross Reekie — Founder, Rise Consulting and Macquarie University Masters student (‘Forward Thinking’ in Insight: Canon Oceania Group Employee Magazine No. 57, June 2019: 12-13). The Panel discussion was held at Canon’s premises in Macquarie Business Park and facilitated by Gavin Gomes, Group Executive Director, Canon Australia.
