This scholarship for Session 1 2019 is currently closed, the information for upcoming rounds will be updated closer to the round opening in May 2019.

2019 International Research Training Program scholarship (iRTP) and International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship program (iMQRES)

The main scholarship round for international candidates is the International Research Training Program scholarship (iRTP). The International Research Training Program is the Australian Commonwealth Government scholarship scheme for supporting international higher degree research candidates.

Applicants applying for an iRTP will be automatically considered for the University funded International Macquarie Research Excellence Scholarship program (iMQRES) in the same round.

Applicants should refer to main round scholarships as either ‘iRTP’ or ‘iMQRES’ within their application. All applicants must read the additional information for applicants for important information regarding the application process.

Availability

Scholarship Eligibility:

  • International candidates commencing their PhD or MPhil program in 2019 on a full time basis
  • Have already completed, or expect to complete in 2018 a research master’s degree
  • Applicants must meet Macquarie University academic admission requirements, including the minimum English language requirements. English waivers will not be considered.
  • Candidates are expected to undertake full time, internal, on-site candidature at Macquarie University and be located within the wider Sydney Metropolitan area during my candidature
  • Candidates will be rated against the criteria outlined on the MQ HDR scholarship rating sheet for international applicants, and in accordance with the MQ Research Training Program Scholarship Guidelines

Scholarship Components

Successful iRTP candidates will receive:

  • Tuition fee offset for 3 years maximum
  • Stipend (tax exempt, indexed annually, 2019 rate $27,596pa)
  • Travel Concession (applied to local transport OPAL Card)

Successful iMQRES candidates will receive

  • Tuition fee offset for 3 years maximum
  • Stipend (tax exempt, indexed annually, 2019 rate $27,596pa)

How to Apply

Applications for commencement in Session 1 2019 will open in May 2018 and close on 31 July 2018, 11:59PM (AEST). We encourage applicants to submit their application as early as possible prior to the deadline.

Application Timeline:

  • May 2018: International Scholarship round for 2019 commencement OPENS (PhD, MRes Y2 with scholarship)
  • 31 July 2018, 11:59PM: International Scholarship round for 2019 CLOSES
  • Mid-October 2018 onwards: International Scholarship round outcomes issued.
