The student will work on aspects of an ARC funded project on re-engineering rice root architecture. This will involve proteomics and genomic analysis of different regions of rice roots from a variety of plants grown under a range of conditions. The aim is to identify factors which are responsible for creating steeper and deeper roots, which are better suited to growth in conditions were less water is available.
This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a direct entry 3-year PhD OR a MRes Year 2 (1-year) + PhD (3-year) program.
Applicants can be International or Domestic (Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents or New Zealand citizens).
The scholarship is comprised of a Living Allowance Stipend and Tuition Fee Offset scholarship. The value and tenure of the stipend scholarship is at the full-time rate of $28,092 per annum (2020 rate, tax exempt for up to 4 years and indexed annually).
