Description

This project is directed toward understanding and modelling the social, cognitive and perceptual-motor dynamics of human and artificial agent (multiagent) interaction. Topics include investigation of 1) the effects social identity (i.e., minority group membership and/or bias) on non-verbal behavior, mimicry and behavioral coordination; 2) how social identities are embodied in the perceptual-motor process that promote or inhibit effective social interaction (i.e., communication strategies and collaborative problem solving); 3) development and implementation of virtual-reality methodologies for advancing social and behavioral research; and 4) the applications of such methodologies for social and multiagent skills assessment, training, and interventions to reduce the consequences of bias.

Applications are open to candidates who have appropriate qualifications and experience in one of the following discipline fields:

  • Psychology
  • Cognitive Science

The successful candidate will receive cross-disciplinary research training and expertise within a growing, internationally recognized areas of scientific significance (i.e., social dynamics, nonlinear analysis and modelling, interactive virtual-reality technologies). The successful candidate will also have a unique opportunity to collaborate with leading international researchers from around the world and present at international conferences.
