Project Name: Mapping breast cancer screening, diagnostic, treatment and post treatment services available to Aboriginal women in Armidale and surrounding areas
The intended outcomes of this project are to:
- Map healthcare pathways for breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and long-term care for Aboriginal women
- Increase knowledge of breast cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and long-term care and reduce fear among Aboriginal women
- Increase the knowledge of support services and availability of culturally competent care for Aboriginal women.
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander candidates are encouraged to apply
Extensive knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culture.
Willingness and ability to travel within Australia to collaborate and undertake co-design with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services and other organisations.
Commitment to improving health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Interest in and commitment to working with a multi-disciplinary advisory group.
Interest in and commitment to working with the Foundation for Breast Cancer Care and the Poche Centre for Indigenous Health.
Eligible to enrol in a PhD.
This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a direct entry 3-year PhD program.
To be eligible for a scholarship, applicants are expected to have a record of excellent academic performance and preferably, additional relevant research experience and/or peer-reviewed research activity in line with the University’s scholarship rating guidelines. Refer to the Rating Scholarship Applicants section for more information about these guidelines.
The scholarship is comprised of a Tuition Fee Offset and a Living Allowance Stipend.
The value and tenure of the scholarship is $30,000 per annum for one year with the possibility of extension for up to a further two years. An additional $3,000 will be available for research costs including travel, transcription and other expenses as approved.
