Description

Exploration of the effects of the at-sea deployment environment on Navy personnel resilience, experience of chronic stress, job performance, and cognitive functioning.

Study 1: will involve interviews with approximately 25-30 Navy personnel.

Study 2: will involve the collection of survey data from 600 Navy personnel at 4-time points (i.e., pre-deployment, mid-deployment, post-deployment, and six- month post-deployment follow-up). 250 participants from this initial sample will be asked to also provide a pre and post deployment hair sample for the analysis of hair cortisol and participate in pre and post-deployment cognitive assessments.

  • Scholarship is for three years with a start date in 2020.

Availability

This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a direct entry 3-year PhD program.

Scholarship Components

The scholarship is comprised of a Tuition Fee Offset and a Living Allowance Stipend. The value and tenure of the scholarship is a “MQRES” full-time stipend rate of $28,092 per annum (in 2020 tax exempt for up to 3 years - indexed annually).
