University of Potsdam, Germany

Potsdam University is located in the Greater Berlin area. The University was newly created after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. Potsdam is a strategic partner University of Macquarie University. The International Doctorate for Experimental Approaches to Language and Brain (IDEALAB) consortium of five full partner universities (Macquarie, Potsdam, Groningen, Trento and Newcastle) provides candidates with strong International Research Training experience which is funded by the European Union’s Erasmus Mundus Program.

Leading and focus research areas include Cognitive Sciences, Geosciences, Functional Ecology and Evolution, Plant Genomics and Systems Biology, Public Policy and Management, Unsettled Cultures and Empirical Educational Studies.

University Of Heidelberg, Germany

Heidelberg University is a very old-established (since 1386) research intensive university, high placed in the world top 100 rankings and in the top 3 in Germany. Heidelberg is a strategic partner of Macquarie University. There have been Cotutelle enrolments in computing and linguistics.

Heidelberg’s fields of research focus are:  Molecular and cellular basis of life, Structure and pattern formation in the material world, Cultural dynamics in globalised worlds, Self-regulation and regulation: individuals and organisations.

University of Hamburg, Germany:

The University of Hamburg is a long-established research intensive university, comfortably placed within the world top 200 on most assessments. Hamburg is a strategic partner of Macquarie University. Macquarie University has had a long association with Hamburg including undergraduate student exchange and joint research in several disciplines. Hamburg’s key research areas are: Climate, earth, environment, Matter and the universe, Neurosciences, Multilingualism, Governance, Heterogeneity and education, Infection research and structural biology. Master of Research exchanges are encouraged for one year, 6 months or 3 month stays.  Macquarie students outbound can choose courses from the full range of Master-level courses available in the division to which they have been admitted at Hamburg and Hamburg students inbound can choose courses from the full range of Master-level courses available in the division to which they have been admitted at Macquarie.

Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany

The University of Göttingen is an old-established research university of high international standing, comfortably placed in the world top 100 on most rankings. It is well-known for its remarkably diverse range of subjects, research-led teaching and outstanding scientific environment, in which more than 40 Nobel laureates have lived, studied, researched and taught.

Practically every scientific discipline (excluding engineering) is represented in its 13 faculties.

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, Germany

Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HsKA) Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences offers subjects in the engineering, computer science, business, and media fields. Their programs are taught across the following six faculties: Architecture and Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Information Management and Media, Computer Science and Business Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics, as well as Management Science and Engineering. Alongside teaching, research plays a vital role at the university. It is one of its core competencies and is seen as an important part of its profile.

East China Normal University (ECNU), China

East China Normal University (ECNU) is one of the most prestigious universities in China and is sponsored by the national programs “Project 211” and “Project 985”. The University has 21 schools and colleges, and 5 advanced research institutes. The 58 departments offer programs in humanities, education, science, engineering, economics, management, philosophy, psychology, law, history and art.

Chang'An University, China

Directly affiliated to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Chang'an University is one of the State "211 Project" key development universities jointly run by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Land Resources, Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Construction and Shaanxi Provincial Government. It is concurrently one of the key development universities on the State “985” Project advantage discipline innovation platform. The university was officially established in the year 2000 by merging the former Xi'an Highway University, Xi'an Engineering Institute and Northwest Institute of Construction Engineering, which were founded in the early 1950s. Chang’an University is located in the historical and cultural city of Xi'an and covers an area of more than 3,755 mu (approximately 250 hectares). The university comprises two teaching campuses and two practice bases. Through its 60 years of development, it has evolved into an influential comprehensive higher institution in China, with engineering as its main discipline focus, combining engineering with sciences, and with multidisciplinary development in economy, management and humanities. It has graduated more than 250,000 talents of different levels, mainly in the fields of highway transportation, land resources and environment and construction engineering.

Chang’an University has 21 schools or departments, 5 national-level key disciplines, 26 provincial-level key disciplines, 8 post-doctoral research stations, 8 first-level and 52 second-level doctoral programs, 26 first-level and 122 second-level master programs, 40 undergraduate specialties as well as 8 fields of degree conferment of Mater of Public Management and Master of Industrial and Commercial Management, and 16 enrollment fields of masters in engineering. University of Science and Technology of China, China (USTC)

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is a prominent university in China and enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide. It was established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1958 in Beijing, as a strategic action by the Chinese government, to meet China’s science and technology needs and increases the country’s international competitiveness. CAS integrated its resources with USTC, with the aim of educating top talent in cutting-edge, interdisciplinary science and technology. USTC established the first graduate school in China and built the first “big science facility” in China, the Hefei Synchrotron Radiation Facility.

USTC is one of the most important innovation centers in China. It is the only university in China operating two national labs: the National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory and the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale. It also jointly operates two national “big science” facilities along with CAS institutes: the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak and the Steady High Magnetic Field of the High Magnetic Field Laboratory.

USTC is a world leader in fields like quantum manipulation, nanotechnology, high-temperature superconductivity, speech processing, fire science and life science. USTC has the highest percentage of alumni, among Chinese universities, elected as members of CAS and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Doctoral dissertations at USTC are frequently awarded the Hundred Annual Outstanding Dissertations Prize, which honors the top dissertations from Chinese universities.

Total enrollment for autumn 2016 is about 15,500 students, of whom 7,400 are undergraduates, 6,200 are master’s students, and 1,900 are Ph.D. students. USTC has 1,812 faculty members, of whom 547 are professors. USTC has 15 degree-granting schools in the fields of physical sciences, life sciences, information science and technology, earth and space sciences, public affairs, nuclear science and technology, mathematical sciences, chemistry and material science, engineering science, computer science and technology, management, humanities and social science, environmental science and electro-optical technology, and software engineering, as well as a school for gifted youth.

Dalian University, China (DUT)

Dalian University of Technology (DUT) is a national key university administrated directly under the Ministry of Education of China, which is also sponsored by Project 211 and Project 985.

Dalian University of Technology was established in April 1949,  as the School of Engineering of Dalian University. In December 2012, the Ministry of Education formally approved the Dalian University of Technology to build Panjin campus;  Panjin campus has positioned itself to achieve academic standards which parallel those offered on the main campus; In September 2017, approved by the State Council, DUT was selected into the “World-class University Construction Plan”, category A.

DUT has formed a multi-disciplinary system which focuses on science and engineering and coordinates science, engineering, economics, management, humanities, law, philosophy and arts. The university has 1 graduate school, 7 faculties (with 1 faculty having 3 independent academic schools), 8 independent academic schools and teaching departments, 3 special schools and 1 independent college. Panjin campus has 1 teaching department and 7 academic schools; Development zone campus has 3 academic schools.

The university has now 4 national key primary disciplines (Dynamics, Hydraulic engineering, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Management Science and Engineering, covering 15 secondary disciplines), 6 national key secondary disciplines (Computational Mathematics, Plasma Physics, Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation, Structural Engineering, Structural Analysis for Industrial Equipment, Environmental Engineering), and 2 national key secondary (cultivating) disciplines. There are 27 PhD. programs in the primary disciplines, 130 PhD. programs in the secondary disciplines, 42 Master programs in the primary disciplines, 220 Master programs in the secondary disciplines, 25 post-doctoral research stations.

Dalian University of Technology has three campuses (Lingshui, Development Zone and Panjin) in two cities (Dalian and Panjin). It covers a total area of 4.262 million square meters with a construction area of 1.68 million square meters.
