Aim
The Macquarie University Fellowship for Indigenous Researchers (MUFIR) Scheme has the following objectives:
- To provide support to early career Australian Indigenous researchers who are within 3 years of the award of their PhD who have an outstanding track record (relative to opportunity) and/or who show evidence of excellent research potential.
- To provide seed funding for early career Australian Indigenous researchers allowing them to increase their competitiveness for securing research funding from non-University sources.
To provide a high-quality research environment for Australian Indigenous researchers, offering opportunities to collaborate, engage with and contribute to Macquarie University's research culture while demonstrating emerging research leadership.
Macquarie University will offer two MUFIR positions per year. The positions will be awarded on a competitive basis and are offered in two formats:
- 100% research over 3 years
- 75% research and 25% teaching over 4 years
The Host Department/School is responsible for the 25% teaching component of the MUFIR 4-year salary, and the relevant Head of School/Department must provide written confirmation that funding for this will be covered for the duration of the fellowship
Fellows must dedicate at least 0.8 FTE of their time towards their Fellowship project.
