Student Wellbeing Emergency Fund

Support students struggling to meet basic needs while balancing study and other commitments.

Two people sitting and talking. With the rising cost of living placing increasing pressure on our students, many are being forced to reduce essential spending, including food and nutrition, in order to cover unavoidable expenses such as rent and transport.

Your donation can make a meaningful and immediate difference, helping to ensure that no student has to choose between continuing their studies and meeting their most basic needs.

Contributions to the Student Wellbeing Emergency Fund will provide practical relief when it matters most, including food security support and short-term crisis assistance.

“Together, we can support our students at their most vulnerable moments and help them remain focused on their future. Even small acts of generosity can have a profound and lasting impact.”  - Hedda Paisley, Executive Director, Philanthropy and Alumni Relations.

The Fund builds on the University’s existing commitment to student wellbeing, including the Food Hub, which provides a free daily breakfast and weekly hampers with free essential and nutritious food to students managing study and living expenses. Additional support includes supermarket food vouchers and fee relief for those experiencing financial difficulty.

“This fund makes a material difference to the lives of our students who, for various reasons, find themselves in short-term financial need unable to make ends meet, for whom food and medication is sacrificed to pay down a debt. By providing financial assistance at this critical time, enabling students in need to continue their studies, we can help ensure all of our students have the opportunity to realise the transformation that can come from a Macquarie education.” - Professor Leanne Piggott, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Dean of Students).

Together we can ensure that every student has the opportunity to stay safe, continue their education and thrive – regardless of the challenges they face. Your support can help turn a moment of crisis into a pathway to possibility.
