We are thrilled to announce that Macquarie University, in collaboration with Apate.AI, has secured federal funding to launch a groundbreaking pilot program aimed at combating phone scams using AI-driven technology.

Partnering with Commonwealth Bank, Australia’s largest bank, the pilot aims to extract critical insights from scammers in real-time. These insights will empower CBA's cybersecurity and intelligence teams to detect threats early, turn the scammers' tactics against them, and prevent fraud before it happens. With phone calls still the most common method used by scammers, this collaboration couldn’t come at a more crucial time.

Executive Director of Macquarie University Cyber Security Hub and CEO of Apate.AI, Dali Kaafar aptly puts it, "Our mission is to disrupt scammers’ business models globally and make it much harder for fraudsters to reach actual victims."

The collaboration between CBA, Apate.AI, and Macquarie University highlights the strength of academia and industry working together to drive real-world impact.
