Macquarie University’s HSC Study Lab has been honoured at the New South Wales 2016 Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) iAwards in the Community Services category. This esteemed Community Service accolade recognises the new online resource aimed to help high school students in years 11 and 12 achieve success in their end-of-year exams.
HSC Study Lab applies a new delivery method for the existing science curriculum presented on an innovative platform that features video lessons, interactive activities, simulators and HSC-style practice questions. More than 800 teachers use the resource, and more than 7,500 user licenses have been accessed across the state by students and teachers.
“The award means recognition of the hard work put into the development of the courses, the platform and the brand,” says Product Manager Eeva Liinamo-Liukku. “I couldn’t be happier for the team. So much hard work has gone into creating this resource.
As a participant in the HSC Study Lab, Sydney Grammar student Nick Manning says the interactive and engaging material made the resource an easier way to sift through content-heavy subjects such as biology and chemistry.
“Textbooks can be hard to understand for visual leaners and consequently hard to digest into a sound personal understanding of key concepts,” he says.
“Ultimately, HSC Study Lab is a refreshingly-exciting and fun way to learn interesting topics that will hopefully propel me into a career in science.”
As a New South Wales award recipient, HSC Study Lab will now compete against the winners from other states at the national iAwards held in Melbourne on 1 September 2016.
