Powerful women inspire a new generation of female achievement

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Women, Management and Work Conference presented by Macquarie University.

Held on July 18 and 19, at the prestigious Hilton Hotel in Sydney, the program is designed to challenge, empower and inspire executive women on their career path. The program is packed with expert knowledge and practical workshops from leading industry speakers and academics who will share with the delegates ideas and strategies that they have personally found integral in their own leadership journey.

Key speakers on the day will include; Åse Lunde, Managing Director, Lunde Risk Reduction AB, Sweden,Terry Davis, CEO of Coca-Cola Amatil, Wendy Mcarthy AO, Principal, McCarthy Mentoring, Sandra Triulzi, National Diversity Manager of Abigroup Limited, and Carol Austin, Investment Services Director, Contango Asset Management Limitedand Director on the Board of Future Funds andHSBC Australia.

This year’s conference will explore:

  • Work: Current and future trends

  • The way we were and are today

  • Abigroup National Diversity Strategy going forward

  • Risk management and resilience

  • Women of influence; World Cafe’ –work life balance; a myth?

  • Anywhere working; Options and opportunities

  • We’ve all got what it takes but where is it?


Speakers will focus on encouraging more women to consider male dominated industries such as construction and engineering, and important issues such as how we balance home and work life will be addressed. Speakers will also analyse the change in the risk environment and the impact of this change on businesses and communities.

Conference drinks followed by a Gala Conference Dinner will be held at the Hilton Hotel on the evening of July 18, a perfect opportunity to network. Lisa Wilkinson, Co-Host of The Today Show (Network 9) will be the key-note speaker at the dinner.

This year Macquarie University is offering two assistance packages in order to give individuals the chance to capitalise on this great career opportunity. The first is a scholarship offered to those who work for a not-for-profit organisation, striving to be a more efficient leader. The scholarship will include entry to both days of the Women, Management and Work Conference including the conference drinks and Gala Conference Dinner. The second assistance program will be the chance to receive one of five mentoring packages, which includes entry to both days of the Women, Management and Work Conference (including the conference drinks and Gala Conference Dinner) as well as six months of mentoring made up of 45 minute sessions once a month with a highly regarded, top-ranking professional.
